A warm welcome to The Troutbeck Inn, nestling in the delightful hamelet of Troutbeck and surrounded by breathtaking fells the Inn offers a cosy, comfortable and relaxed base from which you can easily access all of the Lake District. Originally a weary traveller’s railway hotel and a watering hole for thirsty farmers after the auction next door.

The Troutbeck inn is under new ownership since spring 2009 & has undergone complete refurbishment of all bar, lounge & restaurant areas. We hope that all customers, old & new, will appreciate the new look.
In addition to our guest rooms we have three beautiful luxury cottages, these are converted from former stables and are in the courtyard to the rear of the Inn. Each cottage is extremely spacious with everything you need for a self catering holiday.
All three cottages are named after the fells that surround them, both Blencathra and Saddlebck cottages have 2 bedroomeds, one double one twin, then we have Little Mell Fell our romantic cottage for two. These are available on a self catering basis but you can spoil yourselves and dine in our restaurant for lunch or dinner.
We welcome dogs to stay in the Inn and our cottages by prior arrangement and they are very welcome in our bar.
Ideally situated with wonderful panoramic views and within easy reach of Helvellyn, Ullswater and Derwentwater. The more adventurous might prefer to experience the views from Sharp Edge on Blencathra or Striding Edge on Helvellyn or sample some of the many outdoor activities available at Rookin House activity centre one mile towards Ullswater.
Keswick lies 8 miles to the West and Penrith 8 miles to the East. Ullswater is 5 miles due South and has the villages of Pooley Bridge and Glenridding on its shores. On Ullswater, Ullswater steamers run a ferry service giving you easy access to other parts of the lake, or simply a fantastic panoramic trip around Ullswater. A visit to Borrowdale is a must, to walk or to just drive and take in the beautiful views.
Accept for the month of January we are open all year to make the most of each delightful season. Autumn is especially charming and our winters are fresh and crisp with the fells normally covered in snow. What better way to ease into the Christmas spirit, relaxing by our open fire and sipping a glass of mulled wine.
